As promised: Penn Relays.
Spent the afternoon shooting pool with my dad (pictured here). It’s always a lot of fun — especially since this is one of the few things that we have in common.
Some of you may know that I really like doing sports photography. I finally had another opportunity today: a Bocce tournament in Norristown today. Shown is my brother, clearly enjoying his bowl.
Tobi’s sister, Hanna, came to visit us. Today we visited some of her host family and spent time in a wave-making machine, whose enclosure was built by our friend Jim’s company, SeaBox. Pictured here are Johanna and Brittany, boogie-boarding before the surfboards came out.
Drexel’s quad. I figure if you’re hacking by yourself in the middle of the quad, you want people to look at you. And take pictures.
A shot along my favorite part of the Schuylkill River — although my favorite view of the city is in a different direction.
I’m looking forward to this Saturday, when many Philadelphia Photobloggers are going to meet up at Eastern State Penn.
Another shot from Penn Relays (I promise, I’ll get off of them soon!). I’ve cropped this one pretty aggressively to hilight the expressions on their faces. Take a look at the original and let me know if I’ve been overly aggressive: the original also has some character of its own, and I’m not sure if I should have just posted it as-was.
As expected, I had no time to work on shots yesterday. I should have pre-posted this one, since I already had it earmarked for today! So here it is, a little late. Now I’m going to go find a shot for today. 🙂

With mother’s day coming up on Sunday, a small army of relatives coming over, and a kitchen renovation that’s still not done, it’s unlikely that I’ll have much time until Sunday evening.
I’ve got about a billion pictures from Penn Relays that came out better than I had hoped. And another billion that were just a little off. It’s going to be hard not posting all of the shots for the next few months, one a day, but I think I’ll manage — I’ve got another great series that I can’t wait to post which also has me excited. Hopefully I’ll be posting the first in the new series tomorrow.
Anywho, this is obviously the womens’ high jump competition. I think Penn Relays is the m …[more]
The sky/cloud pics will wait another day: something better came along. Today is the second day of Penn Relays, which takes place at Franklin Field right around the corner from my office. Most years I see this as a congestive nightmare of swarming high-school students and chaperones who have never been to a big city before and are itching to be stupid. This year I decided that instead of being annoyed at how they affected my work life, I’d let it be a positive part of my non-work life. I spent …[more]
