From fairly early in Snowpocalypse 3, shot from within the warmth of our kitchen with my favorite lens (Canon’s 135mm f/2 prime).

Back in the digital world, this comes from the height of Snowpocalypse 3 – trees had just started breaking under the weight of the snow in our neighborhood, and Jake and I beat a hasty retreat into the house.

On my first pass through Snowpocalypse 3 shots, I discarded this one; it doesn’t have the DoF I wanted when I shot it (hastily, during the peak of the downfall, with my son playing in the middle of the street). But given Tina’s comment to my previous shot, I decided to go with a series of snow mysteries. While this one isn’t my favorite, I did like the contrast between the footprints and the tire tracks. And I know I’ve got at least two more to post of different subjects…

Continuing in the series of “Snowpocalypse 3”, this was also mid-blizzard on February 10th. Just before our trees started to fall down…

Honestly, I don’t know how these guys do it. Another 6-8″ of snow on the ground today, very wet, roads in terrible shape — and We Have Mail. You go, dude.

And a bonus shot for today! Looking out my back door, I saw this shot of our red maple. I spent a short while trying to capture it, deciding that it just didn’t have enough depth or contrast. So I manufactured some using a couple of 580EX-IIs and PocketWizards.

Shortly after having taken this, the 5D refused to shoot any more. Probably because it was a little… damp. And cold, to boot.
