The Colorado River, I decided, was central to the trip. It should also be prominent in the shot, as much as possible. A long exposure, best viewed large. I’m not too fond of the grass in the foreground, but it does give some extra depth to the shot.
I don’t remember if Jake was mad at me, or just demonstrating his deadly karate skills – either way, it made for some fun photography!

Also at Morris Arboretum; Jake and I raced up the big hill. He made it about three-quarters of the way up before we had to take a rest. Which worked out well for me, too…
Jake, God bless him, is always happy to help daddy set up backdrops and strobes. And then pose, if only for 2 minutes.
And here he is, trying out the boundaries of the “don’t throw the ball indoors” rule. I can just see the gears spinning, trying to figure out if it’s more important to daddy that he have a subject, or that the ball not be thrown in the house…
