Taken along the Hudson River, near Fort Lee. Delta 3200 (!), EI 1600 (I was apparently finishing off a roll already loaded).
From the old to the new! I’ve been slowly stepping through cameras of the 20th century – 1930s and 40s Voigtländers, 1950s Ricohs. Well, my two Ricoh Diacords failed while at a workshop, which left me wanting gear that was more reliable. So upon my return, I repaired both Diacords and started scouring ebay for something quiet and reliable.
And this is from a test roll (HP5, ei400) out of my new Mamiya 7.
While I don’t really understand why we have to have a “graduation ceremony” for pre-K, I have to say that it was a helluva lot of fun to shoot.
And the shoveling out continues. This was from mid-storm, around noon yesterday. Everything is much less visible now, under even more snow…
One very sad boy. Some day he’ll be telling his therapist all about his insensitive clod of a photographer dad.
I’m not entirely sure what’s going on here. He’s sort of saluting. He’s certainly pointing to the rotting pumpkin. Hmm.
A quick break from the unseasonable weather, and an excuse for the boys to take off their shirts…
A break from pumpkin picking for a quick science lesson! I think, from the boys’ perspective, it went something like “Look, slugs!”
Combining nature, kids, and Jake, here starts a series from the Penn Vermont Fruit Farm last month. Look for guest appearances from other Philly Photobloggers and their kids…
I’m going back through my piles of unprocessed shots, and this one struck me. I’m not sure what was going on – no flash, in that position in the living room, but with a catchlight in his eye and something glowing behind him? The quality of light makes this one for me – but probably because I’m wondering what in the heck I did…
Hard to believe, but yes, this is the same kid as the previous photo. I can just see him as a teenager in this shot.
I wish the water spray had been a bit more pronounced. As it is, it gives me something to look at in the negative space up in the upper-right – but more would be better. His shadow pulling me down into the red is also welcome.
