This is a “New” Cyanotype, from Mike Ware’s modernized Cyanotype formulation. The image may look familiar to long-time viewers; it’s a rework of a previous image, direct-printed on to an 8.5×11 sheet of cyanotype-sensitized paper. Exposure time was around 5 minutes in direct (winter, low-sky) sunlight.
From a shot at Laurel Hill Cemetery last month; I really wanted this shot to work, but couldn’t isolate the subject enough. There’s a building in the background that kept telling me I needed to have a ladder along for the shoot. And there’s a little financial demon in my head that says “you don’t need a foldable ladder that fits in your car.” It also tells me “you don’t need a Land Rover to use as a portable photographic ladder and platform” and “don’t buy that 5D Mark II yet”. From the Laurel Hill Cemetery today. Sarah and I spent some time walking around, shooting the same subject and discussing the shots.
One year ago today, Sue was in labor. We went for a walk through the nearby cemetery while we waited for it to pick up the tempo. This is one of my saved shots from that outing.
The day before Jake was born, Sue and I went for a walk in the nearby cemetery. I’ve wanted to post this shot for some time but as the shot was decidedly snowy, it didn’t seem right to post it in the middle of the summer.

Reaching the end of the Laurel Hill series, which was excellently timed. I’ve been spending a lot of time this week doing house cleaning, holiday prep, more cleaning, purging junk, and cleaning. Not very much photography in there.
Using a macro adapter at last week’s photobloggers event. I didn’t have time to post anything yesterday (hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our house, as usual) so I’m making up for it today with a double-post.
